In the play space for children designed by artist Kerstin Brätsch, more is allowed than forbidden. Colorful wallpapers, structures, objects, and a range of “Loose Parts” form spaces on the ground floor of the Gropius Bau that do not impose fixed guidelines but are determined by the activities of the children. They dictate the direction and form of what happens here. Thus, this place becomes a space of possibilities that can change day by day.

BAUBAU will launch in September 2024 in a prototype version and will continue to develop and grow over the coming years both inside and outside the Gropius Bau – in close exchange with the children and their wishes, as this is their place.

The Play
All children have the urge to play. This is how they learn to understand themselves and the world. Especially open, self-determined play is of great significance for emotional and social development. The educational concept for BAUBAU is therefore based on the principles of free play: Here, there is time, space, and permission for children to follow their own needs and interests. They are accompanied by playworkers – trained staff who create a safe and supportive environment where children can play freely.

 
The Art
BAUBAU playfully questions what a museum or an art institution should be. The comprehensive spatial design developed by Kerstin Brätsch is full of references and inspirations: elements from her previous works, such as marbling, paintings, or stucco marble work, reappear here in altered forms and materialities. The wallpapers, curtains, fabrics, seating furniture, and climbing structures are inhabited by dinosaurs, fantastical beings, termite mounds, and abstract elements. With their strange, funny, and perhaps a bit eerie shapes, they create an open framework for free play.

Kerstin Brätsch's practice is designed to allow and incorporate influences from outside. While she has previously collaborated with artists or artisans, she now does so in a completely different way with children: She invites the children to reshape and further develop the space according to their own ideas and visions, without the influence of the artist in unpredictable ways.

HEAVEN 17 bring their legendary synth-pop sound back to Germany live in November 2026 with a new tour!

What started as an experimental project has developed into a mainstay of the British music scene: HEAVEN 17 have represented intelligent electro-pop, socially critical lyrics, and danceable grooves for over four decades.

The band was founded in the early 1980s by Martyn Ware, one of the founding members of The Human League, who later worked as a producer for global stars like Tina Turner. Together with his bandmates from HEAVEN 17, he created a distinctive sound heavily inspired by electronic pioneers like Kraftwerk, capturing the spirit of an entire generation.

Their first album Penthouse and Pavement made a big impact: it quickly achieved Gold status in the UK and is now considered a style-defining classic. Tracks like “Let’s All Make A Bomb” and “Song With No Name” demonstrate how progressive and sonically bold HEAVEN 17 were back then and continue to be today.

With their follow-up work The Luxury Gap, the band solidified their international success.
With “Temptation”, HEAVEN 17 achieved one of the biggest synth-pop hits of the 80s. The song, which is still a staple in their shows, is said by Martyn Ware to be “an absolute crowd-pleaser in any context.”

In 2026, HEAVEN 17 will once again go on tour with a best-of program that excites both fans and newcomers alike. The “ELECTRONICALLY YOURS” Tour 2026 brings back the distinctive sound of the 80s, enriched with the live energy and experience of a band that has made music history.

Four decades of electrifying pop – live and direct on stage

"Can we not save the world? Yes, who else?" This is not a classic cabaret that Hagen Rether serves to his audience, but rather an associative game, an invitation to think along. The cabaret artist refuses to reduce complex contexts and societal as well as political absurdities to mere punchlines. He also does not indulge in ranting about scapegoats, because the responsibility does not lie solely with "those up there."

In great detail, Rether links the current with the forgotten, the near with the far, questioning, denying, doubting. He thoroughly shakes belief systems, exposing so-called necessities as collective fictions to laughter. With surprising comparisons, he seduces the audience into a shift in perspective – to a different view of the world, into the future, into the mirror, also confronting uncomfortable truths. And he calls for us to free ourselves from our often instrumentalized fear and anger.

Rether's LOVE is tragic, comedic, painful, infectious: The constantly mutating program with the same title causes lasting dissatisfaction with simple explanations and encourages independent thinking and action. For up to three and a half hours, the cabaret artist passionately advocates for enlightenment and compassion, against double standards and consumerist indifference: Change is possible – if we want it.

Evening mood and moonlight are motifs at the threshold of reality and dream. A shadowy, intangible state in which our self finds tranquility. Stefan Grasse plays romantic music that transports and enchants us. His own neo-classical compositions and selected works by Tárrega, Barrios, Chopin, and Satie resonate. The internationally recognized and multiple award-winning guitarist promises a concert experience reminiscent of a calm summer evening at the seaside. Floating tones that play like pastel-colored light of the setting sun with the transparent blue of the sky. A serenade of twilight, through dream and time.

Marcel Adam Abschiedstour Vol. 3/3 Best Of
The 3-year farewell tour is coming to an end. The last year, the last program, the farewell to his faithful fans is within reach.
Marcel Adam – instead of "Gonz Elähn" (1996), rather with his "Fine Equipe" – a journey through chansons, dialect songs, music, and plenty of humor from the first to the last album.
After performances with various formations in the 80s and 90s, Marcel started "Gonz Elähn" in 1996 with his first solo CD. 30 years later, he concludes this journey with his friends and favorite musicians.
Is it even possible to release a Best of program after over 10 studio albums without leaving out one or another classic?! "S’Onna" and "Von guten Mächten" are definitely part of the standard program and will not be missing. The audience is invited to simply enjoy the last concerts and be surprised. Of course, as one knows Marcel, there will be much laughter, and surely a tear or two will also be shed.
The farewell tour has been running since September 2024 and will end in December 2026.

The Cologne guitar virtuoso EDDIE KOLD learned his craft in Chicago, the world capital of blues. In the blues mecca, he made a name for himself and played in the bands of VANCE KELLY, ZORA YOUNG, and LV BANKS, among others. Tours took him to the Montreal Jazz Fest, Winnipeg Blues Fest, and Amsterdam Blues Fest. He participated in the Chicago Bluesfest in 1991 with Zora YOUNG, likely as the only German bluesman.

Influenced by Little Milton, Hollywood Scott, his father Buddy Scott, Buddy Guy, and Wes Montgomery, he demonstrates a stylistic variety of traditional Chicago blues, soul, and jazz.

LARRY “DOC” WATKINS - the Blues doctor

…comes from West Virginia and has been living and working in Germany for about 20 years. In the mid-nineties, he began singing with great success in local clubs.

He loves to interact with the audience and involve them in the show. His excursions into the audience often lead to singing “battles” between him and the crowd.

Stylistically, WATKINS is oriented towards the Chicago models Muddy WATERS and the WOLF – he enjoys singing classics like “Mojo,” “I’m Ready,” or “Hoochie Coochie Man.” He also likes to rock the house with excursions into the blues-rock genre – “Hey Joe” or “Cold Shot” often appear on the setlist.

The EDDIE KOLD BAND is dedicated to Southern soul, as it is celebrated in the blues clubs of the South and West Side of Chicago. This includes robust blues-rock influences mixed with jazz and soul feeling.

The EDDIE KOLD BAND is completed by drummer Christian DEWÜBB WÜBBEN, who is known for the German band ERDMÖBEL, and the former Brother Snakeoil bassist KLAUS BRUNSCHEDE from Düren.

After training as a civil registry officer and organist, he completed a three-year acting program at the Zerboni School of Acting in Munich. From May 2026, he will tour the entire German-speaking area with his current fifth solo program "Greetings from Allegro Süd." Martin Frank is a comedian, Spiegel bestseller author ("Grandma, I'll bring the wheelchair in front," "The last one turns off the light"), and host of the late-night show "Frank am Freitag" on BR television.
