Joanna Gemma Auguri wird ihre neue Platte „Hiraeth“ live mit voller Band präsentieren. Eine beindruckende Bandbreite von Instrumenten, Sounds und ihrer fantastischen Stimme erwartet euch. Elegische Musik mit dunklerem Pop-Appeal. Das Album erscheint am 28.06.24 auf Duchess Box. Das Magazin Post-Punk beschreibt die Single „What we call love“ so: “The song itself is a masterful blend of sultry tones and seductive melodies, reminiscent of the smoky vocal purrs of Portishead’s Beth Gibbons and the ethereal soundscapes of Cocteau Twins’ Elizabeth Fraser. With its jazzy undertones and a 60s vibe that harks back to the likes of Scott Walker and The Tindersticks, the track weaves a rich tapestry of sound that is both chill-inducing and romantically evocative. The piano and percussion elements, in particular, echo Fraser’s collaboration with Massive Attack, creating a mesmerizing ambiance that softly vibrates the tiny hairs up and down your arms.”

Die Berliner Musikerin, Songwriterin und Schauspielerin Joanna Gemma Auguri verarbeitet in ihren musikalischen Solo- und Bandprojekten Einflüsse aus Folk, Ambient- und Avantgarde-Musik. Als Fünfjährige flüchtete sie mit ihren Eltern aus dem unter Kriegsrecht stehenden Polen und musste schon früh lernen, was Entwurzelung bedeutet. Diese Erfahrung spiegelt sich in ihrer Musik als Ausdruck persönlicher Traurigkeit, Mitgefühl, aber auch Verzweiflung über den Zustand der Welt wider. 2021 veröffentlichte sie ihr Solodebüt „ „11” auf ihrem eigenen Label Lavender Music. Es wurde hauptsächlich von Akkordeon, Zither und ihrem Gesang geprägt. Ihr neues Album „Hiraeth” (ein walisisches Wort für Sehnsucht) wurde in den Candy Bomber Studios in Berlin mit einer großen Anzahl von Musiker*innen aufgenommen. Neben Chor, Kontrabass, Lap-Steel-Gitarre, Schlagzeug, Cello, Bläsern, verschiedenen Orgeln und Keyboards schimmern immer wieder ihre ursprünglichen Instrumente Akkordeon und Zither durch. Unverwechselbar sitzt Joannas Stimme über den majestätischen, fast monumentalen Kompositionen, die trotz ihres Reichtums immer einfach und zart bleiben.
