The small North Sea island Ooge is being invaded by tourists. All of Ooge? Not quite. Dour and unyielding, some warlike hardcore islanders resist. Traveling has become a challenge. The traditional vacation spots of Germans are hardly accessible anymore. Entire continents have isolated themselves or are currently being militarily occupied. So, only the beauty of one's own country remains. And so they all come to: Ooge. The idyllic miniature world of dunes, seagulls, too many peculiar geese, and stubborn inhabitants is bursting at the seams. Locals and tourists jostle like sardines in a can – with plenty of conflict potential. For in the behavior repertoire of vacationers, there is neither modesty nor politeness, but all the more entitlement and misguided service expectations. Yet Ooge, the last remaining place of longing for vacation-hungry mainlanders, makes it difficult for holiday guests to be liked, tolerated, or even just let in. The islanders resist with drastic and bizarre measures, but unintentionally enhance the allure of their small island in the vast sea... A wildly funny story by the author of the novel "Quitt." Once again, Stefan Gliwitzki dissects the comedy and tragedy of life, exposes the mechanisms of our togetherness, and simultaneously sets his story in one of the most beautiful vacation spots in the republic: Ooge.
