„Sovereign is he who decides on the state of emergency.“ – Carl Schmitt was also such a bigmouth; otherwise, he wouldn't have become Göring's egg liqueur. Germany's most notorious advocate wrote the famous line in 1928, and since then we have been chewing on it. Barely a hundred years later, there is a state of emergency at every corner – but who is sovereign?

Some say this, others: the people, the truth lies somewhere completely different, as always. Mathias Tretter once again finds it with his friend Ansgar: “Being high is a state of emergency, and I have chosen it.” Democracy may gradually be losing its authority, but that doesn’t mean one has to lose self-control. Unless one wets oneself from laughing – but isn't that the most sovereign thing of all?

„They will whinny,“ says Tretter, who has now finally been awarded every cabaret prize since the Salzburger Stier 2023. Nevertheless, his latest piece is his funniest: “You will chuckle, snort, gasp, and in the end, go home invulnerable.” In other words: Sovereign. The name is program.

In any case, they would have been better understood. Luckily, there are Tilman Birr and Elis C. Bihn alias “Welthits auf Hessisch”.

They have faithfully translated world-famous hits from the last 130 years – from English, French, or Italian. Translated into Hessian, the language of love and poetry, and of course into the Hessian way of life. Only these two can do that. “Welthits auf Hessisch” – the Harry Rowohlt of mood bands. Now they sing the famous songs “Am Lebe bleibe” (Bee Gees), “Bös” (Michael Jackson), or “Kerzsche innem Wind” (Elton John).

Theater marotte – The Bright Side of Life

“Throw the rascal to the ground!” The ensemble of the Karlsruhe Theater “Marotte” is guesting this year in Rosbach as part of the Open-Air Culture Summer and presents a humorous puppet theater adaptation of the cult film “Life of Brian” by the legendary British comedy troupe Monty Python. Whimsical wordplay and dark humor at a breakneck pace, including many cult quotes that are indispensable for an entire generation.

Between employee benefits, coaching sessions, and the deserted cafeteria, marketing employee Volk plays ‘Taboo’ with the German language. Find five words to describe a term. Only deep breaths and a quick visit to common sense can help. This is represented by custodian Günter Pawlowski, who is working on his moped in Buddhist patience in the storage room.

Up and down the country, the cabaret artist has been causing a stir with her office programs since 2017, sparking laughter and sore abs. Entire office communities pilgrimage to Volk's performances and find themselves reflected in Andreas’ stories. The most frequently asked question after the performance: “Do you work with us?” Often guests recount their ups and downs between copier, coffee kitchen, and cafeteria after the show - and find their way into the endless story of office madness.

With "Super Looper," Martin O. conjures a cheerful acoustic endless loop of highlights and gems from the last 16 years, as well as a kaleidoscope of brand new pieces in the audience. Always present: The Symphony – his very own looping device made from Appenzeller walnut. Who would have thought around 20 years ago that one could conquer the cabaret and comedy stages of the country with "Scherereien" and perfect Hessian? In 1998, Johannes Scherer went on tour for the first time, alongside his congenial partner and radio colleague Robert Treutel ("Bodo Bach"). Four years later, Scherer's first solo show "Scherereien" followed, for which he was directly nominated for the prestigious cabaret award "Prix Pantheon". Over the years, five more successful solo programs by the TV and radio presenter followed.
In 2019, it was time for an extensive "BEST OF" tour, where Scherer, born in 1973 in Alzenau-Wasserlos and raised in Schöllkrippen in the Aschaffenburg district, celebrates his 20th stage anniversary and takes his fans on a journey through his previous shows. In his usual manner, he presents a varied mix of stand-up, cabaret, and parody from the solo programs "Scherereien," "Scherereien 2.0 Reloaded," "Dumm klickt gut," "Asoziale Netzwerke," and the current program "Keinangsthasen."
In his recent programs, Johannes Scherer parodies less and instead brings relevant topics to the stage. He mercilessly settles accounts with insecure consumers, automatic friend finders, concerned citizens, radical Thermomix operators, and all others who unnecessarily and unsolicited leave their communication waste everywhere.
Moreover, the guys from the "DFB-Kantine" will speak again, along with his favorite Italian Luigi and the now-retired Terminator Arnold Schwarzenegger, to whom Johannes Scherer lent his more or less German voice in the 2007 film of "The Simpsons."

Who doesn't know them? The curious and adventurous twins Nicci & Vicci, who have fun with their friends at the boarding school. But on the first day of summer vacation, the fun turns into serious business. A classmate has suddenly disappeared and the dreadful suspicion arises that she has been abducted. Perhaps by a beast that, according to legend, roams the area - the Carpathian calf of Vankerville? That sounds like a new case for the 2 ii-Dot Detectives. In their neck-breaking search through the eerie Dartmoor, Nicci & Vicci encounter green ghosts, crazy birds, and must solve puzzles with many ???. While they almost lose their nerves and innocence, they never lose their sense of humor. Will the twins be able to unravel the spooky secret?

“Alfred Hitchcock meets Enid Blyton”: Nowhere in the world are radio plays more popular and successful than in Germany. The 1980s were a special golden era, during which radio plays were produced especially for the youth on vinyl and cassette. Series like “The three ???”, “Five Friends”, “Bibi Blocksberg”, “TKKG”, “Benjamin Blümchen” or “Hanni and Nanni” have shaped generations and are still so successful today that they continue with new episodes even about 40 years later and are regarded as "cult". The hr2-RadioLiveTheater honors these radio plays in a parody homage and takes an exciting leap back to the 80s, including their music and clothing. An event for all retro fans and cassette kids.

At the guest performance, there’s a new radio play live on stage and one can look over the shoulder of the team in the "radio play studio" and behind the scenes while they are "making the radio play." All senses are required, as the speakers bring the radio play to life with music, sounds, costumes, and effects. The perfect combination of cinema in the head and the magic of theater.
