Open Air spectacle loosely based on William Shakespeare
All culture enthusiasts can look forward to an evening of William Shakespeare's classic in (almost) new garb!
Content: Right at the beginning, a shipwreck! The young Viola manages to save herself to the shores of Illyria. For her own protection, she disguises herself as a man, and Viola becomes Cesario, who gets a job as a servant to Count Orsino. Unfortunately, Viola/Cesario falls in love with Orsino himself.
However, Orsino is already in love with Olivia, who has been vehemently rejecting him for months. The aforementioned Olivia is head over heels for Cesario (that is, Viola)! To make matters worse, Sebastian, Viola's twin brother, also gets stranded in Illyria, creating perfect (love) chaos.
Further confusion is already pre-programmed due to the endless drinking sprees of the gentlemen Toby Rülps, Andrew Bleichenwang, and Maria, who are a nuisance to steward Malvolio and a real thorn in his side. So the three drinkers quickly manipulate the steward, who is in love with Olivia, and make him appear mad. What a drama,... Will it all end well?
In "Was ihr wollt," nothing is as it seems and no one is who they claim to be. However, in the end, there might still be a happy ending (except for the unpleasant Malvolio, of course). The incredibly dense, colorful, and witty comedy indeed shaped the season of the Badische Landesbühne in its founding year 1969/1950 and now experiences a grand revival!
