In 2003, eight students founded the Kölner Klassik Ensemble at the Hochschule für Musik in Cologne. Today – over 20 years later – this ensemble has developed into one of the leading collectives for classical chamber music in North Rhine-Westphalia. The Kölner Klassik Ensemble will perform for the first time at the Alpirsbacher Kreuzgangkonzerte.
The soloists:
Cologne's Tobias Kassung is regarded as one of the outstanding German guitarists and as a boundary-pusher in his field. As a composer, he is opening new paths for the guitar in the realm of chamber music. Since 2020, Tobias Kassung has been the artistic director of the renowned series kammerkonzerte.koeln.
Alexander Prushinskiy is one of the most sought-after violinists in Germany. As the 1st concertmaster, he has been leading the Dortmund Philharmonic since 2009. He is regularly engaged as a soloist and concertmaster by the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra Hamburg, the Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne, the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra of the Netherlands, and many others.
Lena Kravets, born in Tashkent, lives in Cologne and works as a freelance musician. In 2011, she founded the Duo Cello and Guitar together with Tobias Kassung, with which she performs at numerous concerts at home and abroad. She is the principal cellist of the Kölner Klassik Ensemble and of the Astor Trio in the cello configuration. Since 2021, she has been the artistic director of 8CELLI, a cello ensemble of eight outstanding cellists from North Rhine-Westphalia that she founded.
